Former heads of Duhanski kombinat Prilep (TKP) Toni Micajkov and Dimitar Bogdan have been sentenced to five years in prison. Moreover, they have to pay fines of MKD 300,000. This is a result of three-year legal proceedings filed against 11 persons before the Skopje Basic Court for VAT and excise duties fraud. The Macedonian Department for Organized Crime charged the 11 persons for tax evasion, providing help and participating in crime related to 500 tons of cigarettes. They caused damage of MKD 500 million to the State in the period between January 1, 2005 and April 18, 2006. Their crime consisted of counterfeiting customs regulations and invoices for cigarettes, which were sold on the Macedonian market instead of markets of Cyprus and Kosovo.(Spic)Source/Author PressCut
