Eurozone Update: Don't Stress the Stress Tests
Marc Chandler submits:
Stress Test Update: The latest indication is that next Friday the results of the European bank stress tests will be reported in some aggregate (perhaps country level) with details for individuals banks expected in the following couple of weeks. This may disappoint those who were anticipating some closure on July 23.

European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF): We have argued that the 750 bln euro package announced in late May was largely about shock and awe. That the third that was to come from the IMF is simply a what if throw-away number that has no basis in reality. The IMF does not make blanket regional loans. Specific countries have to apply/ make specific requests and a specific program is worked out. Another.....

Strumica watermelon producers want cash
Topics:Romania, Slovakia, PRESSCUT d.o.o.
Strumica melon and watermelon producers demand their products are paid in cash, rather than via transaction accounts. They claim the dealers are not respecting the contracts and withhold payment for several months. Although inspectors were supervising the traders making cash payments several days ago, the revolted producers have announced they will give their melons and watermelons only to those willing to pay in cash. The reason of their complaints is the fact they need the money for the sowing. The majority of watermelons will again end up in Serbia, while a part will also be sold to the Czech Republic, Romania and Slovakia.(Kanal5)Source/Author PressCut

Sports Illustrated's iPad App: Think Print, Not Web [MediaMemo]

Sports Illustrated’s iPad app, which the company first started showing off in concept form last winter, is now in the iTunes store.

No point in going into detail about it when you can see it for yourself.

But it’s basically what editor Terry McDonell promised last fall, and what the magazine’s peers are also delivering on Apple’s (AAPL) platform: All of the weekly magazine is there, plus some bells and whistles, like additional photos, an extra story and some videos. (The ads, though, are from different marketers than the ones in the magazine, which is different than rival Conde Nast’s strategy)

In this case, it also looks and functions quite a bit like Time magazine’s iPad.....

Revolving Credit Plunge Sends Market Lower
Wall Street Strategies submits:
These days we all have much in common with Pavlov's dog: we all are programmed to sell stocks at 3:00 pm whether there is news or not. Yesterday there was news, and it was disappointing. I realize consumers pulled back their spending last year in scenes reminiscent of Custer's last encounter, as many households awoke to a reality that they had spent too much and took on too many financial obligations. Many were able to circle the wagons in time, others were not, and now there is a large swath of people that found an escape route where they simply will not pay certain financial obligations (mainly their homes) as they mark time before a new adjustment in lifestyle. There is no doubt that demand for credit decreased, but it didn't evaporate! Is there a single person out there that
